The USA Today continues its long and glorious tradition of in-depth journalism with this piece, which exposes the fact that -- get this! -- people speed despite higher speed limits. Sometimes really fast. Put simply, this is one of the least interesting pieces of "news" that I've ever read. And it's on the front page today.
I would liked to have read about whether increased speeding has led to more traffic accidents and fatalities; according to this site, fatalities are down. Same thing here. That took all of 30 seconds of googling. I don't know about you, but I read the paper so I don't have to google.
I also would liked to have read about what the different theories are for why people are speeding with greater magnitude (my guess is that it's because of the higher speed limits -- before, I might go 65 on the 55 mph freeway; now, I'll go 75 because the speed limit is 65 mph). You won't find that in the USA Today piece either. I guess that's why they (well, I) call it "McPaper."
