The phrase "common sense" is an oxymoron. Every day, some moron or group of morons proves it. Read this story, and pay attention to the mugshots (as though you could somehow ignore them, right?); I'll wait.
Now. Right up front, assuming the accusations are true, I feel bad that the woman victim was sexually assaulted. She didn't deserve it; no one does. I feel bad that they were stripped and humiliated, too. But. But. Just look at the string of horrible judgments that led to that point. First, who in their right mind would buy a pitbull from any of those three humps? The story is unclear as to which one actually sold the dog, but does it matter? Man alive, just look at them!
Second, notice that the couple agreed to meet the Three Felonious Stooges to "talk about" a $100 debt. Not "to pay off" a $100 debt, mind you, but to discuss it. See, there are certain people of the disposition that they respect only fear and pain. Because they're too stupid to understand anything else. I would lay you odds that the three guys in those photos are of that disposition. It's probably best not to hold out on them over a lousy hundred bucks.
And why agree to meet at 2 a.m? In a closed public park? Two in the morning at Denny's or Steak 'n Shake would be fine, or 2 p.m. in the public park. Shouldn't one of the victims have realized the meeting was a setup? You don't need a magic 8 ball to tell you that that meeting was going to end badly; it would have come up "Not Fucking Likely" every time.
If common sense actually was, none of this would have happened. I mean, it's terrible what happened, but I'm having a hard time feeling any empathy. And it's not because I hate people (which I do), but because it all could have been so easily avoided.
