Five at Five, Rare Sunday Edition

  • Every Calvin & Hobbes strip ever, chronologically arranged. A serious debt of gratitude to whomever put this together. (Link via A Small Victory.)
  • Life imitates The Onion:
  • A PLAN by a German zoo to test the sexual appetites of a group of suspected homosexual penguins has sparked outrage among gay and lesbian groups, who fear zookeepers might force them to turn straight.

"All sorts of gay and lesbian associations have been emailing and calling in to protest," said a spokesman for the zoo in the north-western city of Bremerhaven.

Zookeepers wanted to test whether the penguins' homosexuality was a lifestyle choice resulting from an utter absence of females, or genetic.  How dare they?  (Link via Ace of Spades.)

  • Jinkies!  Hunter S. Thompson stars in a lost episode of Scooby Doo.  Anyone can make the obvious jokes about Velma being gay, and Fred & Daphne being lovers, and Shaggy being baked all the time, but it takes a keenly-honed wit to make such jokes satire.  Iowahawk possesses such wit, and he proves it over and over.
  • Andrew Sullivan might be coming back around. He's finally weighed in on the Jeff Gannon non-story (which will take too long to explain here; Ace has been flooding the zone on this story, so visit him if you don't know what I'm talking about), and is appalled by the relentless gay-bashing by the Left. I only wish he had used "gob-smackingly vile" somewhere in the post.
  • Finally, via just about everybody, Country Music Television is offering a one-year, $100,000 contract to blog about the Dukes of Hazzard and appear at various Dukes of Hazzard events across the country.  Apparently, there's also a Dukes of Hazzard Institute, about which I could find no details.
