Monday Roundup

Here's more good news that the mainstream media is keeping from us, presumably for fear they'll have to admit that they backed the wrong horse in the last two elections: the deficit is shrinking. Yep, shrinking. Granted, the government spent $413 billion more than it took in during last fiscal last year (which is, to borrow an economic term, a shitload of money), but the important fact to note is how the deficit has been narrowed, i.e., by increased tax revenues begat by President Bush's tax cuts.  Deacon, one of the indispensible Power Line trio, calls this "the crisis that wasn't;" while I don't know that I'd go that far, this news is about the exact opposite of what we've been hearing from the Chicken Littles of the MSM.

Disney is remaking Tron.  I guess it didn't suck bad enough the first time.

There are some things that you can't unsee.  Two are these pictures of Bill Gates, circa 1983, from a photo spread he did for Teen Beat magazine.  Wow.  Just . . . wow.  (Link via Boing Boing.)

It's never too late for Krauthammer.  I was going to link to it on Friday, but I didn't do a link round-up.  And since I didn't have anything to say other than, "Hey, today's Krauthammer column is the cat's pajamas," it couldn't very well be a stand-alone item.  Anyway, if you haven't read his typically keen piece on CBS's laughable independent investigation into Rathergate, you should.  Also read this related piece by John Podhoretz, which posits that CBS grossly overpaid for the product it got.
