Un. F***ing. Believable.

Mike Moran, a consultant to the U.S. Olympic Committee, has advised U.S. athletes to leave their national pride back home and not carry it to Greece with them. I am disgusted to the point where I cannot speak rationally about this, except to say that I hope every American athlete personally gives Mike Moran and the USOC a hale and hearty "Fuck You!" in both word and deed this summer. For the four years in between Olympics, no one hears about most of our Olympic athletes. But for one fortnight every four years, these men and women (many of whom need full-time jobs to support their training) are in the world spotlight. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, paid for in blood, sweat, perseverance and sacrifice. Now, the USOC is telling them to hide their pride so as to not upset the delicate sensibilities of France and Iran. How dare they?

Michele at A Small Victory sums up my thoughts more eloquently, and also has a useful link to contact the USOC about this directly.
