Spent a long weekend in Indianapolis with a few friends. We ran the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon on Saturday, along with 19,577 others. It was a bit warm but still a lot of fun. This was my fourth year running it, and every year the race organizers and volunteers do a first-class job. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but from a participant's standpoint the race seems to go off without a hitch.
In that vein, I'd like to say a special thanks to the volunteer at the gear check truck who took care of me and my stuff when I was late getting there. I had about 2 minutes until the race started, and this guy saw me coming and met me halfway to make sure I wouldn't miss the start. I hope he had a juicy steak and an ice cold beer waiting for him after everything was done.
