Unfortunate Names

Jay Tea, guest blogging at Wizbang!, asks for the worst name you've ever heard, with the caveat that it be the name of someone you've actually met. Personally, far and away the worst name of which I have firsthand knowledge is Richard Dick ("Dick Squared"), who (fittingly enough) taught math at my high school. I never had him, but by all accounts he lived up to his name.

Since I possess all of the maturity of an 8th grader, the comments to the Wizbang post were quite entertaining. However, this post from Professor Volokh on the same subject makes me both laugh hysterically and weep in empathy.

in preschool, the schools had a lottery to see what kids would be picked to enter. one of the kids that lost the lottery was "Chun Kee Dik". How sad is that?

Real people I've known: Rusty Potts. Harry Peters.
