Kim Weiland, a Pennsylvania bureaucrat, has been bringing her tiny poodle to work, much to the chagrin of her boss:
Commissioner Greg Skrepenak sent Weiland a memo a week or two ago, asking her to investigate rumors of dog sightings in the building. [The memo also addressed the new cover sheets that are to be put on all TPS Reports -- Ed.] Skrepenak said he didn't know Weiland was the one bringing in the pet, and his e-mail noted that such a practice was "unacceptable."
Weiland informed Skrepenak the dog was hers, adding that she would stop bringing Toby to work, Skrepenak said.
However, workers say Weiland was still bringing in the dog this week.
Skrepenak said will consider disciplinary action if Weiland persists.
"If we allow Kim to bring the dog in, then every pet owner in the courthouse will argue, 'Why can't we?"' Skrepenak said. "There are some things unacceptable in the public sector, and that's one of them."
Judge Susan Dlott, a federal district court judge in Cincinnati, brings her dog to work almost every day. And it's a big dog, too.
